142 wooded acres on Gallows and Little Long Ponds
This beautiful outdoor program facility features all the facilities necessary for camping in a pine forest, including lodges,  outbuildings for crafts and shelter and a number of large tents on wooden platforms.  The lodges and washhouses have running water, toilets and septic systems.  Features also include a 20' indoor climbing wall, a challenge (low ropes) course, indoor high ropes, nature trails, a frog pond, a large athletic field and boating and waterfront facilities. 

The Environmental Discovery Center - Built in 2002, combines a permanent home for our environmental programs with a beautiful indoor camping hall and a tower that houses our 20' climbing wall and high ropes.  The EDC is heated, so they can be used all year. 

 
 


Old Lodge
- available for  troop camping September - mid June.  Includes a heated room, a bathroom and a fireplace.  Accommodates up to 25 people.  No separate sleeping spaces.  Kitchen includes refrigerator, sink, hot water and some cooking utensils (dininghall kitchen is off limits due to Board of Health regulations)..  Troops should bring cooking and eating equipment.

Tent Units - some contain 8-10 platform tents; some contain 4 platform tents.  Available for service unit and troop camping September -  October and late April - mid June.   Each tent sleeps up to 8 persons without cots and 5 with cots.  Tent units include washhouses, toilets, running water, kitchen shelter (some are roofed with open sides, and some are 3-sided and roofed) and a fireplace.  Four units have hot water and showers.  Refrigeration is available at lodges. 

Balfour Lodge - available for  troop camping September - mid June.  Includes a heated lodge with kitchen, bathroom with shower, and a fireplace.  Accommodates up to 25 people.  Separate sleeping spaces in 4 bunk rooms.  Kitchen includes residential size stove, refrigerator, sink, hot water and some cooking utensils.  Troops should bring most cooking and eating equipment.

Features

The waterfront and equipment are available to service units and troops if they provide water safety personnel in compliance with Safety-Wise and American Camping Association requirements.  Life jackets must be worn by everyone at all times in water craft. The waterfront may be used only with advance arrangement and approval of council staff.  Contact mschafer@gscsm.org.

The climbing wall and challenge course are available by reservation to service units and troops with trained facilitators and safety personnel.  The Climbing Cave (a 3-sided climbing area inside a cabin) can be used without a facilitator.

The playing field is available to service units and troops by reservation.

Nature trails and the frog pond may be enjoyed by everyone on the property, without reservations.
