Dive into Diversity ·
Program in a Bag
|
|
description |
Didn’t get a chance to
participate in last year’s councilwide service
project? It’s not too late! Dive into Diversity is a
patch Program in a Bag. Girls will explore cultural
and ethnic stereotypes and broaden their horizons,
discovering the traditions of different cultures.
Girls will have the opportunity to participate in a
simulation game that will give them a sense of what
it might have been like to immigrate to the United
States. They will learn about issues of racial and
religious discrimination, gender bias and hate
crimes, then learn more about the values and beliefs
of cultures and religions other than their own.
The service portion of the program includes projects
to benefit new immigrants in the community,
connecting girls with diverse populations near home.
They will earn the Dive Into Diversity patch. |

Your troop can borrow this packaged program, which
contains everything needed to run it during your
meetings, including instructions, activities, sample
projects, shopping lists for materials and
explanations of the purpose and results you should
expect. The leadership team conducts the program at
their own pace, so it is perfectly suited to the
level and abilities of the girls. The program is
available on loan, free of charge, from the Service
Center. If you notify us ahead of time, we can
deliver to your next Service Unit meeting. To
reserve, submit an
online request form, or email
