Places to Go for Daisy Troops
Your troop can visit local museums and other points of interest that offer programs for girls of Daisy age. You’ll take advantage of their collections and resources. These programs are conducted by the organizations offering them and they handle registration and facilitation.
 

Capron Park Zoo
201 County Street, Attleboro
Capron offers self-guided tours, behind-the-scenes tours, animal programs and overnights.

Cheernastics
This program is for GS working on fitness.  It includes stretching, tumbling, handstands, cartwheels, handsprings. Contact Cheernastics to schedule 1-hour program. $5pg.  508 923 6232.

 

The Climbing Cave
The Climbing Cave at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines in Plymouth is fitted to look like a real cave, with outcroppings for bouldering (horizontal "climbing"). Helmets and headlights are available. The cave is heated for use all year. Use of the cave is free for our troops, and the experience is self-guided.  To make a reservation, email three possible dates to Lu-Ann Souza, three weeks before the earliest.

 

Mad Science
Their spectacular shows were part of the Brownie Big Four and Mad Science for Juniors.  Now, Mad Science offers hands-on workshops for your troop!  Using the same edu-taining techniques as seen in their shows, the Mad Scientists will bring fun science directly to your troop ... watch a marshmallow grow HUGE!  Make your own Wave Motion Modulator!  Listen to the radio…with your teeth!  Choose from dozens of age-appropriate one-hour workshops, including Slippery Science, Wacky Weather, Under Pressure and Dinosaurs, and badge workshops.  Mad Scientists bring all of the equipment necessary and handle all setup and cleanup.  All you provide are the girls and the curiosity!  $150 for up to 30 girls (feel free to combine troops!).  Additional travel fee may be required in some areas.  For more info, visit www.MadScience.org/SouthernMass, email Mad.Science@comcast.net or call 800 748 7144.

 

PETCO: Fur, Feathers, Fins
This field trip to your local PETCO teaches girls about the characteristics and habitats of fish, reptiles, birds and small mammals. Math, science and geography come to life in this hands-on program, and girls will learn respect for animals and responsible pet ownership. Girls will learn about basic animal care, environmental issues and animal survival.

Red Dragon Martial Arts Academy Karate Patch Program
This is a 4-part Fitness and Safety program that teaches girls how to keep themselves safe by defending themselves. They learn while exercising and having fun. Each session increases fitness level, flexibility, self confidence, alertness and strength.  Skills are developed through basic training and Karate games, which provide a way to enjoy the benefits of this program.  All sessions include review of previous session, allowing girls who were unable to attend to jump right in. Each session is 1.5 hours long and includes a healthy snack, bottled water and a patch.

Shaw's and Star: Healthy Eaters
This trip to your local Shaw’s or Star Market reinforces nutrition and healthy lifestyle messages taught in school and at home. It encourages girls to care about health and wellness, and about the dangers of obesity. Girls learn in a fun, real-life environment, through hands-on activities about nutrition, meal planning, economics and decision-making.  The girls will enjoy free samples of healthy foods  and goodie-bags with souvenirs from the trip.
